Unsuspecting Distributors Have Lost Everything

What is your success worth to you? Is it worth reading your company's policies and procedures (P&P)? I've written about this before, but I think this is of the utmost importance so I'm bringing it up again. This can't be emphasized enough…READ, READ, READ your P&P. Many unsuspecting distributors have lost everything because they didn't read their policies and procedures. This should be the very first thing that you do when you join a company. If you haven't read your P&P, then do it now!

When you sign the company affiliate agreement you are signing a legal and binding document, so make sure you understand what you are agreeing to. In May 2009 a letter was sent out to unsuspecting distributors that the company was no longer offering the network marketing compensation model. Line item #5 of the company's Affiliate agreement reads:

The company "reserves the right to terminate this agreement, and all associated agreements (including, without limitation, the marketing incentive programs), upon 30 days written notice, with or without cause."

This statement would not be in the agreement if they didn't intend to use it. And they did use it. This is why it is so important that we as network marketing professionals read our company's policies and procedures.

How MLM Companies Rip You Off!

Nothing is more frustrating to spend your valuable time and energy building your MLM business to have the company rip you off and pull the rug right out from under you. Yes this could happen to you if you haven't read your company's policy and procedures. It is an absolute must to know what you agree to when you sign up with the company.

The Power Of Storytelling by John Di Lemme

Each and every day as we are building our businesses, we all know the key to a successful presentation is a product being sold to the end-line consumer and/or sponsoring a new person. In the sales process, you are fighting many different types of animals. For most of us who are in direct sales, you have 45 minutes to present a product/business concept and make a person believe in you, your product, and more importantly have them make a decision that they want what you are offering.

When you are presenting the business, it is very easy for you to get very factual and completely lose the interest of your prospect. When you tell a story about the success of someone who is using the product or have a person give a live testimonial about how much they love being a distributor, you will keep the interest of new people who are listening for the first time.

For most of us, the first time in our lives that we were ever presented with the concept of a live audience was back in kindergarten when we played "show and tell". Everyone was always interested in what you were saying because you were simply telling a story. We have all heard of the famous K.I.S.S. rule: Keep It Simple Stupid. When presenting your business or product, the key play is to tell a story and keep it simple.

Everyone can relate to the grandmother, who can talk about their grandchild as the most beautiful, precious child in the world. She will make you feel as if her grandchild would be such a gift to own as your own. You need to take that same simplicity and utilize it during your presentation and create the same result – ownership of your product.

As you tell stories, people will remember those stories versus all the facts in the world. "FACTS TELL, BUT STORIES SELL." They should want to get involved in your business or purchase your product because all of the success stories that you told. People love to be part of a winning team.

Storytelling keeps people tied into you and your presentation. I always say when in doubt during a presentation, tell a story in order to bring people's attention back to you. When I present, I ALWAYS tell many stories because when I was first introduced to direct sales, what perked my ears was a story of a young lady who had a lifestyle I wanted. The personal story of her lifestyle is what made me decide to get involved in the business. In that business, I went on to build an enormous organization and all I did was tell my story and tell the company's story over and over!

Combining the key strategy of storytelling along with the correct mindset, you can achieve your wildest dreams!

The Fall of a Leader by Michael Dlouhy

When a great leader falls because of a lack of integrity, it is
very painful for all involved. Tearing another person down to
build yourself up, only leads to a false impression of yourself.

When someone is tearing others down in front of You this is
a guarantee they will do the same to You behind Your back.
Ultimately you will crash and burn from your lack of character.

The question is:

Would You Want This Person As Your Sponsor ?

Life can give us challenges in many areas of our life. How we
handle those challenges ourselves and who helps us, can
determine our success or failure. Loyalty to do the right thing
enters into all decisions. Friendships built on loyalty and trust
are like support beams for a foundation.

A foundation is the beginning. This applies to your marriage,
your friendships, your home and your business. If you build
them correctly, they will sustain you your lifetime. If you
build carelessly everything will crumble around you.

Leaders are built. Day by day, Lesson by lesson. When a
leader chooses to fall, they sacrifice their integrity, their
honor and their character.

If after knowing the facts and fully utilizing their "critical
thinking skills" when someone decides to leave Your Team
please wish them all the best.

Foundational Leadership Quality: Honorable

Integrity can be considered as the condition of "not doing
what's wrong." Character can be defined as doing the right
things, for the mere reason that it is the right thing, even if
that thing is difficult and unpopular.

The two sewn together make honor. Author Jeff O'Leary,
in The Centurion Principles, writes, " 'Honor' encompasses
the virtues of integrity and honesty, self-denial, loyalty, and
a servant's humility to those in authority above as well as a
just and merciful heart to those below."

Honor is such a rarely used word in our times that it seems
a little old-fashioned. But living a life of integrity and character
is timeless and, for a leader, absolutely necessary. It's about
choices, and a person's choices in life follow him to the grave.

Is this to say that a person needs to be perfect to become a
leader? Of course not. Perfection in this life is not possible,
and we, the authors, are certainly not exceptions. However,
a leader must strive continually toward perfection even though
she knows she can never exactly attain it.

It is a question of the heart. The most effective leaders through
out history have led with their hearts, in trust, and with honor.
If a leader cuts corners, misuses people, or misrepresents, the
truth, a time bomb begins ticking. Someday, somewhere, the
bomb will go off. It is obvious in our times only too often: public
figures at the pinnacles of power and fame crash and burn in
the cloud of self-inflicted shame. From political scandals to
high-profile corporate frauds, these calamities are brought
on by a lack of honor in the leadership.

"Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected."

The difference between leaders we revile and those we praise
is their individual level of honor. In fact, honor is the force that
holds a leader's hunger in check.

Without honor, hunger runs rampant and ultimately serves
only selfish interests. Honor is the component that makes
hunger productive for the leader's fellow man. In fact, what
we are basically describing here is another "old-fashioned"
word: duty.

George Washington said of duty, "Human happiness and
moral duty are inseparably connected." So leadership is
spawned by hunger and held in check by honor.

Under that combination, leaders will find happiness in the
fulfillment of their duty to others. It has been said that the
character of a man is the only thing that will walk back
from the grave into the hearts of the people who knew him.

That is the legacy of a leader. The words a leader say and
the walk a leader walks must match. As the saying goes,
"Your word is your worth and your worth is your word."

Andy Stanley, author of The Next Generation Leader, says,
"To become a leader worth following you must give time and
attention to the inner man.

To leave a legacy that goes beyond accomplishment alone,
a leader must devote himself to matters of the heart."
Character is developed in the valleys and the peaks of life,
enabling a person to overcome obstacles and deal with
success.

Abraham Lincoln observed, "Nearly all men can handle
adversity, but if you really want to test a man's character -
give him power." Character connects a person to what is
right and true.

If reputation is what others think of you, then character is
what God knows about you. This concept of honor is so
important to a leader because people will follow a leader
only as far as they feel they can trust him.

People will not follow a leader they can't trust. According
to R. Ruth Barton, "We set young leaders up for a fall if
we encourage them to envision what they can do before
they consider the kind of person they should be.

" Warren Bennis tells us, "In the leadership arena,
character counts. I am not saying this casually, of studies,
observations, and interviews with leaders and with the
people near them.... I've never seen a person derailed
from [leadership] positions for lack of technical competence.

But I've seen lots of people derailed for lack of judgment
and character." And, as Heraclitus said, "Man's character
is his fate." Finally, it should be remembered that a major
component of honor is personal courage.

Without the courage to do what's right because it's right,
regardless of ramifications to self, one is not truly worthy
to be called a leader.

When people don't "Believe" they deserve Success they
will self destruct every time.... This is the reason we tell

Which Network Marketer Are You?

There are two types of network marketers: those who believe that working two or more businesses at one time will result in "multiple streams of income" only to find themselves with multiple streams of outgo and those who know that being laser focused on one opportunity absolutely brings success. When you chase several MLM opportunities to create your "multiple streams of income" you lose your focus, thus you lose efficiency and power. Without laser focus your efforts are wasted.

Focused thinking brings clarity to your target. It helps you to know your goal, and to achieve it. Just as a good golfer needs to focus on a clear target, so must you as a network marketer focus on one specific MLM opportunity. When you work two or more opportunities you actually harm the development of your most profitable opportunity and your lack of focus soon turns to frustration. To quote John C. Maxwell, "No one achieves greatness by becoming a generalist."

Many people say they are making huge amounts of money working several programs at a time. This may be true, but the question is "how is it working for you?" So what would be easier: to keep spending money promoting a bunch of affiliate programs to find a few that work well for you or to be laser focused on one huge profit center?

When you put your entire focus on your money-making program you will absolutely inspire dedication and create a belief in your associates' minds that you are clear about your goal. People will actually start asking you to become part of your team.

How to Make Successful New Year’s Resolutions by John Di Lemme

As 2011 rolls around and we prepare for a new
year, the habit of making New Year’s resolutions
comes to the forefront. This past week, I asked
my students to list what they believe to be
the top three New Year resolutions for society
in general.

To no surprise, the top three were lose weight, make
more money and work out more. While the intentions
behind the resolutions are good, the likelihood that
the Resolutions will be achieved is not so great.

According to general statistics, approximately 45%
of adult Americans make New Year resolutions every
year. Unfortunately, about 97% of the resolutions
are never completely fulfilled...

Why? Most resolutions are unrealistic and there is
no action behind the resolution. Someone can say
that they want to make more money, but if they
continue to go on shopping sprees, then it
is not going to happen. Similarly, a person can say
that they are going to lose weight, but if they don’t
exercise and continue to eat junk, then no change
will occur...

The base word of Resolution is resolute, which
means firmly resolved. So basically when you set
New Year’s resolutions, you are saying that losing
weight, making more money, etc. will be firmly resolved
within the next twelve months. You aren’t saying how
it will be fully resolved or what commitment you will
make to fully resolve the issue. It’s like a building
with no Foundation.

It will eventually crumble, because there’s nothing
holding it up. There’s no commitment or action
behind the resolution. Furthermore, most of the
things that you are saying will be fully resolved
took you longer than twelve months to create so why
limit yourself to fully resolving those things in a
twelve month window.

Instead of making resolutions that you will likely
not achieve, set goals with a detailed list of action
steps that will assist you in Successfully Achieving
those goals.

Here are some examples for you...

Goal: Lose weight and exercise more
Action Steps: Join gym, exercise 3x per
week, eat more fruits/veggies, throw out all
junk food in the house, drink a gallon of water
each day

Goal: Spend more time with family
Action Steps: Make a date with your family
every week and do something special.
(special does not mean costly)

Goal: Increase Personal Development time
Action Steps: Schedule at least fifteen minutes
per day for reading an inspirational book,
listening to motivational CD/DVDs, etc.
Increase the amount of time after committing
to the fifteen minutes per day and making it one
of your daily habits...

Now, doesn’t that make more sense than simply
making a New Year’s resolution and never
achieving it? Someone once said, “A New Year's
resolution is something that goes in one year
and out the other"

Your goals and dreams are worth more than that,
right? Stop treating them like a trend that in
one day and out the next. Make a commitment to
yourself and take the daily action needed to
achieve your goals and dreams.

Now, that’s a real reason to put on the party
hats, blow the whistles and scream Happy New Year!

Never Promote an MLM Company

Everybody knows that it is important to understand what works and what doesn't work before you invest a lot of money in a MLM company. Dave Cones, a successful network marketer, has a lot to say about this.

Dave's experience is that most people in this business are unattractive. Why? Because they say, "Join me! Join me! Join me!" Look at all the magazine ads, the Internet, your email, the postcards in your mailbox. They're all the same. Nothing differentiates them.

Social Networking - What is Your Purpose? By Irma White

Have you ever joined a social networking site and immediately noticed no one desired what you offered? After all, you thought a social networking site was a great place to find people - right? Right. It is a way to find people and a place to socialize. Thus, building quality relationships is crucial to your success.

Here a a few tips that will enhance your social networking experience.

Things to do when customizing your profile:

1. When building your profile, post your picture. It makes your site more personable and inviting. People relate to you better and people do business with those they know, like & trust.

2. Although you want to share a little about yourself, keep your profile simple (uncluttered) and short. If it's too cluttered or too long most people won't stay long enough to find the important info.

3. When customizing you profile, offer some type of free service that will benefit them. In other words, your site should not be just about advertising your product. If people don't know you, it's not likely they will buy from you just because they visited your profile. In what ever way you can, be of assistance to your visitor. Provide them something of quality that they will find use.

Things to do to build relationships:

1. If you're new to a community or network, people can easily find you. However, after you've been a member a while, you need to do something to get traffic. You do this by making comments on other people's sites, whether it's someone new to the community or new to a network you've joined. Find a common interest and add your comment or sign their guestbook based upon that. Don't post a generic comment, show genuine interest.

This will do two things:
1) bring them to your profile and
2) bring their visitors to your profile. This is cross-trafficking.

In addition, if you've made friends and know their birthdays, be sure to extend birthday greetings. They would surely appreciate you for that.

But remember, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, leave an advertisment on someone's guestbook. That is netiquette 101. Your sig file is not the place for that. Use your sig file in emails or on blog/forum posts. You can, however, link to someone or something of interest or humorous (just remember to be professional).

People hate spam. Your objective at the social sites is to build relationships. If you join social networking sites for advertisement purposes only, you have little chance of succeeding. But, when you build those quality relationships, your business will grow.

You will notice social networking is "work" but well worth it. You will have to be an active user of the site. To be active, join a few networks and participate in a few of the forums. Just be careful not to let it consume all your time. Devote a couple hours per day to this activity and you will be well on your way to building your empire.

These are the same techniques I am successfully using to build my business. They can do the same for you.

Developing Your Critical Thinking Skills

I received another chain e-mail today, you know the kind...the ones that distort the facts for their own political or racial agenda and tell you to pass it on. I use to forward these on to my family and friends and have been embarrassed when I learned the information was false. Now, since I have learned to be a critical thinker I check out the facts which I often find to be misrepresented.

Next time you get an email that says you should "pass on to everyone you know" no matter how good the cause sounds check it out. Think FIRST, before you hit Send. Trust me: that's not too difficult.

Developing sound critical thinking skills will not only save you from embarrassment in passing on misleading e-mails but it is also crucial for your success as a professional network marketer. Critical thinking involves skillful judgment as to truth and merit and is a life-time endeavor.

Most network marketers who develop sound critical thinking skills save themselves years of failure and frustration. But some never take the time to develop these skills and continue to embarrass themselves by promoting MLM businesses that will never bring profit to their independent distributors.

Most network marketers have the tendency to come off as pushy sales people, and offer people a dream without first building a relationship. They don't take the time to find out what their prospect's dream is before they start to promote their product or service.

As a professional network marketer your first commitment MUST be to your people, NOT to your personal gain. As a leader in the MLM industry it is essential for you to do everything you can to make your prospects and partners feel so valued and cared for that they will be loyal to you forever. Give them the personal attention and respect that they deserve.

You add significance to peoples lives by simply encouraging them to identify and act on their dreams...

“Moishe Rosen teaches a one-sentence mental exercise that is an effective tool in helping a person identify his dream. He asks a person to fill in the blanks:

If I had __________________________________,

I would ___________________________________.

The idea is that if you had anything you wanted – unlimited time, unlimited money, unlimited information, unlimited staff (all the resources you could ask for) – what would you do? Your answer to that question is your dream.

Everyone has heard the story of Isaac Newton’s discovery of the law of gravity after observing the fall of an apple. What few people know is that Edmund Halley, the astronomer who discovered Halley’s Comet, is almost single-handedly responsible for Newton’s theories becoming known. Halley challenged Newton to think through his original notions. He corrected Newton’s mathematical errors and prepared geometrical figures to support his work. Not only did he encourage Newton to write his great work, Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, but he edited the work, supervised its publication, and financed its printing, even though Newton could easily afford the printing costs.

Halley encouraged Newton to act on his dream, and it added immeasurable significance to Newton’s life. Halley received little credit, but he must have gained satisfaction in knowing he had inspired revolutionary ideas in the advancement of scientific thought." Are You Thinking Like Your Prospect?

Are you thinking like your prospect when it comes to what is important to them about your network marketing business? Do you think that your prospect wants to know all about your company; its history, its founders, how long they have been in business, etc?

Of course this may be important to you, but it is not the first thing that is important to your prospect. Think back to when you got started in your network marketing business…why did you get involved? Was it because you trusted the person who told you about it? Did you get involved because you had a relationship with this person? Most likely the answer is "yes".

To be a successful network marketer it is necessary to know what is important to your prospect. "Big Al" Tom Schrieter has traveled all over the world promoting his MLM business and he has discovered what is important to people in their decision to join a MLM company. And the truth is, the most important thing is "who gave the presentation". This is a people business and your prospect wants to know that you care about him or her. When you care about them they can relate to you. They need to like you and be able to work with you.

People want to know that you will work together with them to help them achieve success. It is critical that you offer the proper training which will raise their belief and confidence level in themselves as well as the MLM industry before you send them out on their own. Think about it…when you work for a conventional company you are trained in the job position before you are turned loose. And even then, you'll have someone you can turn to when you need help. Then, why would it be any different in the MLM industry?

So, get to know your prospect; get them plugged into the appropriate training program; introduce them to your team members. Remember it is not about you and what you want. It is all about your prospect and what he or she wants. So start to think like your prospect!

Words Are A Creative Force

We often hear how our thoughts are powerful and they are, but the words that we speak are even more powerful. Words are a "creative force". God spoke His creation into existence when He said: "Light be, and light was". You'll see this all through the book of Genesis…"God said" and it was. God has given us the power to change our circumstances through the words that we speak.

Your words have a greater power than your thoughts to change your circumstances. For example: My sister, a Certified Nurse's Aid, told me about a recent experience with one of her patients. Susie (not her real name) hurt all over and when my sister went to move her she became abusive. Instead of reacting back with harshness and insensitivity, my sister chose to speak kind and compassionate words. Immediately Susie's countenance changed and she told my sister that she was sorry. Susie became more cooperative and accepting of my sister's help. The words that my sister spoke created an environment of love and acceptance rather than one of anger and hostility.

You may be wondering what this has to do with your network marketing business. Well, think about it…if your words have the power to change your circumstances (just as they did for my sister), then they have the power to frame your business world. To be successful in all areas of your life it is important to grasp the truth of the power of your words. When you say words of doubt, worry, fear, etc. you set yourself up for failure. When you speak words of confidence, trust, belief in yourself, you set up a structure for success.

There are three simple action steps that you can take to start to create success in your MLM business.

Step 1.) Write down 4 or 5 key words and/or phrases that you use regularly to describe yourself, others and certain situations in your life or business. Do you use words such as "I can't", "maybe", "I don't", "if only"? Can you see how your words limit the growth of your business?

Step 2.) Choose words and phrases such as "I am", I will", "I am confident", "I do believe"…words that are uplifting and bring increase and success to your business.

Step 3.) Become a part of a mastermind group where you will be lifted up and encouraged to keep focused on using uplifting words that will bring success to your network marketing business.

Remember, God has given you the power to change your circumstances through His "creative force", words. Just as my sister was able to change the mood of her patient by her words, you can also use the "creative force" of your words to transform your network marketing business into success.

Most network marketers who align themselves with a mastermind group discover the power of genuine team support. But some just keep on struggling trying to make it on their own.

The Secret Income of Multi-Millionaires

There are two types of income in the world, but only one will give you the freedom to "own your life". The first type of income is linear income, trading your time for money. Most people work for a living. If they don't work they don't get paid. The school bus driver gets paid when he drives a bus. When his shift ends, he stops getting paid. A surgeon gets paid when she performs surgery, but when she goes home she doesn't get paid.

Now this just may open your eyes…even though the surgeon gets paid a lot more money than the bus driver, they are both in the same boat. They both are trading their time for money. They receive income when they work…that's linear income. When they stop working their income stops.

The second type of income is the secret income of multi-millionaires. It's a lot different than linear income. It's called "royalty income". It's also known as passive, recurring or residual income. "Royalty income" is the secret to creating true wealth.

Royalty income usually refers to regular payments you may receive if you have published a book or any creative work that remains in distribution. For example, Elvis Presley wrote numerous hit songs, and now his daughter Lisa Marie collects a "royalty check" from the record company when his songs are played on the radio or downloaded from iTunes. She doesn't have to write any hit songs because her father did the work right one time. That's "royalty income".

Now imagine if you had a million dollars in your savings account and you knew exactly how to invest your money without losing it all. If It Looks Too Good To Be True...

As a mentor of network marketers it is my duty to arm my clients with information so they don't fall prey to the Internet scam artists who are very persuasive in leading their victims away from common sense. There is a website It Looks Too Good to Be True that was developed to supply you, the consumer, with reliable information so you don't fall into the trap of an Internet fraud scheme. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

How do you identify a scam? It's easy…

An Attorney General would ask these two questions:

1 - Would a logical thinking person pay this much money for the product or service if there was not a business opportunity involved?

2 - Does the income stop when the recruiting stops?

If the answer to the first question is "No" and/or the answer to the second question is "Yes", then it is a scam.

Are You True to Yourself?

To be a leader you need followers, and to have followers you must have their confidence. Thus the highest quality for a leader is undeniably integrity. Integrity builds trust.

Leaders must live by a higher standard than their followers. They must take responsibility...accept the position of being accountable to their followers. Respectable leaders make choices that are best for others when another choice would benefit them. They are quick to recognize others for their efforts and contributions to the success of the team or organization. The measure of a leader's real character is what he would do if he would never be found out.

If you are sincere it's visible in everything you do. Likewise, if you are insincere, people will eventually see it. You can't cover it up. John C Maxwell said, "No one can fool all of the people all of the time. Each of us, eventually, is recognized for exactly what we are – not what we appear to be."

Ann Landers said, "People of integrity expect to be believed. They also know time will prove them right and are willing to wait." Integrity is the result of self-discipline, respectability, and the decision to act honesty in all situations.

To keep your integrity intact, use the following poem ("Am I True to Myself?" by Edgar Guest) as a "mirror test" to evaluate how you are doing.

Network Marketers Addicted to a Smorgasbord of Opportunities

Are you one of the many network marketers who are addicted to a “smorgasbord” of MLM opportunities? Have you fallen into the trap of believing that you need multiple streams of income to only end up with multiple streams of outgo?

What is a Professional Network Marketer?

First let me explain to you what professional network marketers are not. They are not the "heavy hitters" who make illegal income claims, the "scam artists" who are only interested in making a fast buck. They do not tell you that network marketing is a sales business or a numbers game. "Heavy hitters" teach people to recruit, recruit and recruit. Recruiters don't know the "WHY" of the people they sponsor. They get them in the business and you never hear from them again.

Professional network marketers doe not make illegal income claims to entice people to join them in their business. They take a genuine interest in the people they sponsor. They get to know what their dreams are; what motivates them; what is important to them. The truth is that network marketing is a teaching and mentoring business. It is about people, their goals and dreams. Professional network marketers know they need to become a mentor with a "servant's heart" to have long-term success.

Professional network marketers are educated on how to evaluate a network marketing company. The first thing that they do is read the company's contract. They look for key phrases such as "the company reserves the right to terminate this agreement, and all associated agreements (including, without limitation, the marketing incentive programs), upon 30 days written notice, with or without cause." If there is anything in the contract about termination without cause they go no further.

The second thing they look at is the compensation plan; can the average person make money? They look to see how many people, distributors, associates, (whatever the company calls them) do they need to generate the volume that will bring them their desired monthly income.

Professional network marketers remove themselves from the emotion of the deal, the product, services, or whatever the opportunity that is being offered. They look at it objectively…how are they going to build the business; who's their customer; are people buying it because of the business opportunity; do they receive something of value when they join the company?

You chase them around trying to convince them that your opportunity and/or products are the "greatest thing since sliced bread".

Getting caught up in "the chasing trap" only leads to frustration and weariness. It will never help you achieve your goals. This newsflash just came to my attention and I am shocked! This is an actual letter that was sent from the desk of the CEO of a network marketing company to its distributors on May 1, 2009. The name of the company is changed to protect the innocent. This is a must read for network marketers because it could happen to you.

Beginning of Newsflash

I would like to take a few moments to express my sincere and deep gratitude for your loyalty and support over the years. Company XYZ has always held and will continue to hold a large part of my heart.

Due to economic issues at this time, it has come to my realization that we are no longer able to offer the network marketing compensation model for our distributor family. It is with deep regret that I am announcing effective May 1, 2009 that we will suspend the enrollment of new distributors into our current compensation models and only pay commissions for any Fast Start Retail orders and/or distributor re-orders according to the existing compensation models of each respective company. All commissions for April 2009 (including Retail Fast Starts) will be processed by June 15, 2009 to allow for our generous return policy to process. Commissions for May 2009 will be processed by July 15, 2009 at our current compensation model of each existing company.

I realize that we need to take the lessons of this sour economy to heart and offer a true opportunity to any individual to earn a few hundred extra dollars or more per month on the simple philosophy of offering great products to individual consumers. Therefore, prior to June 1st 2009, I look forward to offering an opportunity to our current distributor base to continue marketing Company XYZ products through an affiliate/direct sales model that will pay one level of commission. This program is similar to the already successful distribution program through the Company XYZ retail compensation, but will allow us greater flexibility in meeting the financial decision needs of our consumer while allowing the continued financial gain of our distributor base.

I realize many of you may have questions and concerns, but please keep in mind that my goal is to keep you fully aware of any and all issues moving forward. I personally look forward to making our affiliate/direct sales program available to you on June 1st that allows any individual to earn income from the sale of products alone. Stay tuned for more information regarding that program.

"One song can change your life" just as it did for Shaheen Jafargholi, 12 year old singer from Whales. This is a great life lesson on telling the "truth". We all have experienced the disappointment that young Shaheen did when Simon stopped him from singing and told him that he got it all wrong. Shaheen was given another chance to sing the "right song that changed his life".

It takes a coach and mentor to tell you the truth when you don't want to hear it, just as Shaheen didn't want to hear that the song he chose to sing was not the right song for him. When Simon (the mentor) stopped him and told him the truth, Shaheen immediately made the decision to perform another song that "changed his life".

Just as the "right song" changed a young boy's life, so can the "right five pillars company" and the "right system" change your network marketing business. You can't build your business by yourself. You need the right system and team to help you every step of the way.

Network Marketers Attitude Dictates Your Performance

Attitude is an inward feeling expressed through physical posture, either conscious or unconscious, especially while interacting with others. Your facial expression and body language often reveal how you feel inwardly.

Attitudes are contagious. Have you noticed what happens to you when you are in the presence of someone whose expression reveals a negative attitude? Does it create a negative feeling in you? It does for me. On the other hand when someone greets you with a smile do you experience a lift in your emotions? I know I do.

What is happening on the inside of you affects what is happening around you. A hardened attitude will cause you to have a closed mind and dim future: whereas a loving, serving attitude is conducive to growth and a hopeful future.

Can you see how your attitude dictates your performance in your network marketing business? Think about it...is your attitude working for you or against you?

I like the way John C. Maxwell sums up "what is an attitude?" in his book The Winning Attitude...

"It is the 'advance man' of our true selves.
Its roots are inward but its fruit is outward.
It is our best friend or our worst enemy.
It is more honest and more consistent than our words.
It is an outward look based on past experiences.
It is a thing which draws people to us or repels them.
It is never content until it is expressed.
It is the librarian of our past.
It is the speaker of your present.
It is the prophet of our future."

Network Marketing may just be your answer to get out of debt. It is defined as “a distribution channel – nothing more.” Unlike traditional distribution methods network marketing allows people like you and me to share in the profits.

I came across this article by Seth Godin on ways to get out of debt, and I know of no better way to help people get out of debt than through the distribution model of Network Marketing that generates about $110 billion in sales a year.

“If I could only share one piece of personal finance advice to grads or to just about anyone, it would be this:

Only borrow money to pay for things that increase in value.

It's a short list: your business, your house and your education, mostly. Stocks if you're smarter than me. That's pretty much it.

If you have credit card debt, you're in big trouble. Your bank account has a huge leak in it, and it's getting worse. Hence the urgency.

If you have credit card debt, that means that every time you spend money (even cash), you're borrowing money to do so. And so, if you're going out to dinner or buying a new pair of shoes, you've just broken the single most important rule of personal finance. You're spending borrowed money on stuff that is decreasing in value.

This is an emergency. It's an emergency because every single day you wait, the problem gets worse. A lot worse.

My suggestion: Go to defcon 1, and do it immediately. Shift gears to live well below your means. That means:
No restaurants
No clothes shopping
No cable TV bill
No Starbucks

It means:
Take in a tenant in your spare bedroom
Carpool to work
Skip vacation this year

Eat brown rice and beans every night for dinner. Act like you have virtually no income.

The result? You'll save $5,000 to $20,000 a year. Send all of it to the credit card company. Do this until you're debt free, the faster the better.

There. Now you're rich. Now you get interest on your savings instead of paying the bank. Twenty years from now, this emergency action will translate into perhaps a million dollars in the bank, depending on how much you earn and how serious you are.

I just read about another startup MLM company that has designed a program using 1X3 forced matrix to help people make lots of money fast! The company hasn't even launched yet, and people are jumping on board. Please read this before you invest your hard earned money or savings on any pre-launching MLM company.

Before you jump into a startup MLM company check out the survival rate of new Network Marketing companies. Michael Dlouhy states in his book Success in 10 Steps that 90% of MLM businesses fail in their first year, and 90% of the remaining 10% fail in the second year. You may be wondering why you need faith in your network marketing business. Well, faith is the starting point to all success or failure. Everything we do involves faith. Think about it…when a baby takes his first step it is by faith. When you sit down in a chair it's by faith that it will hold you. Whether we realize it or not faith is the driving force behind each action that we take.

So many network marketers enter into the business in "blind faith", putting their trust in what someone else has said instead of searching out the truth based on evidence. Blind faith is faith without evidence. God does not call us to have blind faith. He calls us to have faith in evidence…truth claims should be evaluated on the evidence.

Would you jump off a cliff because someone told you that you could fly? Of course you wouldn't because there is no evidence that you can fly. In network marketing there is evidence that people are successful, but there is also evidence of many failures. So where do you put your faith …in success or failure?

For success, put your trust and faith in a team of network marketers who are successful in the business. Learn from them. Discover the truth for yourself by getting educated in the industry. Learn to evaluate a company based on the "five pillars" that are necessary for you to be successful in the network marketing industry.

The Secret of Network Marketing Success

The secret of network marketing success is retention, retention, retention. It is no secret that network marketing is a relationship business, not a sales business. Network marketing success lies in building relationships with people: relationships built on trust and sincerity. Michael Dlouhy, author of Success in 10 Steps says, "People join people." When you honor and respect others they will want to be a part of your team.

The three things necessary for retention, the secret to network marketing success, are:

1. You must choose a five pillars company with consumable products that make a real difference in peoples lives. Your team members need to have a strong testimony about the products for them to stay with you and your company.

2. Your company, in addition to excellent products, must offer a compensation plan for you and your team (including the part-timers) to build an attractive income for years to come. And you need to have a proven duplicatable system for your team members to follow for them to be successful in network marketing.

3. Know your people and what they want. Help them put together their "why". Give them personal attention and respect; make them feel important and valued.

Hi Michael, it's Ernie Hines writing to thank you for
sharing your Books and CD's as they have had a profound
impact on the way I Desire to conduct myself and my
business..

Throughout history the passing on of wisdom and practical
knowledge has been done by mentoring from parents, grand
parents, teachers, leaders, coaches, coworkers and friends.

I have found the word goes back to Homer's Odyssey a
story which tells how before leaving on his long journey,
Odysseus asked a close friend to watch over and guide
his son. That friend's name was Mentor.

Having been with Mentoring for Free less than a month,
has allowed me to study and make some observations
from the book by Marc Freedman, "The kindness of
strangers" that there are 7 habits of highly effective
mentors and they are first and foremost

1. Listening:::

It is the only way mentors can understand what people
are up against and where opportunities for developing
the relationship can be discovered.

2. Building a relationship:::

In the hurry to make a difference, mentors can forget to
take time to build a relationship and establish a firm
connection. this means carefully cultivating trust..It
means being patient. Many people will test mentors
to see if they are for real.

3. Respecting boundaries:::

When mentors ask people personal questions before
a solid relationship has been established, the most
common response is silence. People will clam up.
Mentors who do not respect their mentees' needs
for privacy are often quick to alienate them.

4. Being sensitive to differences:::

It is necessary to realize that mentors and those
they work with come from different worlds, a reality
even for mentors who have grown up disadvantaged.
This means being aware of the embarrassment a
person might feel about being poor.

5. Providing support and challenges:::

Successful mentors are consistently there for people,
delivering a sustained message 'You are important"
when problems arise, effective mentors resist telling
people what to do and instead work with them to
address the problems. These mentors are eventually
able to strike a balance between supporting and
challenging both nurturing people and pushing them
toward their goals.

6. Acknowledging reciprocity:::

While mentors often have to provide the initiative
early in the relationship as trust is being established,
mentoring is a two-way street. Growth, benefits and
struggles are present on both sides, and mentors
who are able to convey they are there for mutual
exchange, not just solve problems stand the greatest
chance of making a solid connection.

7. Being realistic:::

Few mentors turn lives around, but mentors who help
people move toward achievable goals can make a real
contribution. Often this means having thick skin,
tolerating unreturned phone calls, accepting the
cultural gaps that must be bridged. In the end, few
virtues in mentoring rival ongoing commitment and
genuine caring.

Anyway after listening to you on audio and meeting
you in person has turned on something inside like a
(multi colored) lightbulb and I can finally see the
forest of trees, shrubs, plants and animals for what
they really are, opportunity.

Did You Read Your Network Marketing Company's Policies & Procedures?

When you start your network marketing home business you agree to your company's policies and procedures (P&P). You may not have to sign on the dotted line but you do have to check a box saying that you read and agree to them. Many people just click on this box and never read the P&P. It is very important to read and understand what you are signing. The Policies and Procedures are a legal contract between you and your network marketing company.

I was researching a company and wanted to find out more about it because the claims were just too good to be true. There were all kinds of testimonies on how quickly you could make "big money" and how simple it is to do…the "system" does it for you. Throughout the page there were places to enter your name and email for more information. Of course I didn't complete it. Since I know to read the company's P&P before doing anything else, I went down to the bottom of the page where I found this statement…

"By entering your details above you are agreeing to our:
Disclaimer - Terms of Use - Income Disclaimer - Privacy Policy"

Let me bring this to your attention: when you enter your name and email in one of the boxes throughout the page you agree to the "Disclaimer-Terms of Service-Income Disclaimer-Privacy Policy". You don't even have to click on a box saying that you read them and agreed to them. You enter into the agreement when you enter your information.

I clicked on "disclaimer" and was shocked when I read this clause…

Straight Talk About Network Marketing Leaders Part 3

In parts one and two you learned about two characteristics of an effective network marketer leader. First lead by serving, and second be gentle and kind. Remember that effective leadership is not simply about getting to the top, but it is about releasing others to do the same.

Honor is another characteristic of a “servant-leader”. This is the key to opening another person’s life and heart to your influence and direction. I’m not talking about influencing others in a manipulative sense, but a genuine willingness to place a priceless value on the people that are brought into your life or onto your team.

You show honor to others by simply being courteous enough to listen to and acknowledge their opinions. You give honor by quickly giving praise and recognition to your team members for their contributions and efforts.

Being a “servant-leader” opens the door for support, loyalty and cooperation of those who are part of your organization. When you approach others with gentleness and sincere honor you can be confident that people will want to join you in your business. Being a “servant-leader” in your network marketing business will bring you success in all that you do.

Straight Talk About Network Marketing Leaders Part 2

In part one you learned about the first characteristic of an effective network marketer: lead first by serving and loving. Willingness to serve others will encourage and attract others to join you in your endeavors. Effective leadership is not simply about getting to the top, but it is about releasing others to do the same.

The second characteristic of an effective network-marketing leader is gentleness…having a gracious and honorable manner. Gentleness is a characteristic of a “servant leader” but is often missed. Gentleness is not a sign of weakness, but it springs forth from confidence in knowing that you have whatever it takes within you to be an effective leader. It is confidence in knowing who you are and that you put others interests before your own. You do not override someone else’s will, but are respectful of their free will.

A gentle leader inspires confidence in others and draws out the best efforts of the team. People respond more openly to a leader who treats them with kindness and gentleness. Network-marketing leaders with a gentle character are a source of inspiration for their team.

Straight Talk About Network Marketing Leaders Part 1

Effective network marketing leaders give direction and motivate their team to action. They are sincerely interested in the welfare of those whom they lead. They will not force, intimidate, coerce or push anyone into doing something against their will. Effective leadership is not simply about getting to the top, but it is about releasing others to do the same.

The first and main characteristic of an effective network marketer is being a “servant-leader”; you lead first by serving and loving. Your willingness to serve others will encourage and attract others to join you in your endeavors. When you contribute to another person’s profitability you prove your faithfulness to him or her, thus you contribute to your own profitability.

Not every effective leader is a “servant-leader”. Take Hitler, for example: he was very effective in motivating others but he was evil and “unimaginably destructive”. It is important to know the characteristics of a “servant-leader” so that you do not innocently end up following a leader who will ultimately destroy you. Or so you will not become an “authority seeker” which ultimately ends up in destroying your followers as well as yourself.

“Authority seekers” seek authority over people; money and control are their bottom line. These are the people who try to exercise authority when they have not been given the responsibility: remember responsibility precedes authority, thus “authority seekers” do not fall under the characteristics of a “servant-leader”. They do not seek to contribute to the welfare of others.

The 10K Question

Do you know how many active distributors (those placing orders or meeting the monthly qualification) you would need to earn $10,000 per month residual income in your business?

Well, here's a simple formula.

1. Determine the required minimum monthly order per distributor.

2. Determine the commission percentage received on the monthly minimum requirement.

3. Figure the dollar amount of that percentage

4. Divide that amount into $10,000

That will give you the number of active distributors needed to earn $10,000 monthly residual income.

If you want to earn $20,000 per month just multiply the number of active distributors by 2: or if you desire $5,000 per month then divide by 2.

Example 1:

Minimum monthly order per distributor = $40.00 or 40 points
Commission percentage = 5%
40.00 x 5% = $2.00
$10,000/2.00 = 5,000 active distributors

In this example 5,000 active distributors are needed to earn $10,000/mo residual income: or 2,500 (5,000 divided by 2) distributors to earn $5,000 per month.

If the commission percentage is 10%, you will need 2,500 distributors to earn $10,000 per month: or 1,250 distributors for $5,000 per month.

Example 2:

Minimum monthly order per distributor - 100 points
Commission percentage = 10%
100 x 10% = $1.00
$10,000/1.00 = 10,000 distributors

In this example 10,000 active distributors are needed to earn the $10,000/mo. At 20%, only 5,000 distributors are needed. For a $1,000/mo residual, 1,000 are needed @ 10% and 500 at the 20%.

The industry average to earn $10,000 is about 2500 people. Wow! Does that seem like a lot of people to you? It does to me.

But don’t be discouraged because there are a few companies out there where you can earn $10,000 monthly income with less than 400 active distributors.

Is This a Five Pillar Company?

This is a summary of a free training call by Michael Dlouhy,
author of "Success in Ten Steps" and founder
of Mentoring for Free.

There are several questions to ask before you choose a
company to work with for the next five, ten or twenty years.
Getting the answers to these questions will save you years of failure
and frustration.

And remember … IT’S NOT ABOUT THE PRODUCTS.
You can have the greatest products on the planet,
but if your company does not have all five pillars,
you can have everything taken away from you overnight.

1. Company Management Experience with Integrity
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Read your Policies and Procedures. Look for the words
"termination" and "ongoing". Find out how safe you are,
how your downline is protected, and whether you can
ever retire.

Rule of Thumb: The longer the contract, the more
overhead the company has, and the less you earn.

Do a Google search on the company and the owners
of the company you are researching. Add the word
'scam' to your search. Check reliable websites like
www.mlmwatchdog.com, etc. for warnings.

Beware of companies where you can buy your way
to the top. Check ebay to see if the company's
products are being sold there.

Beware of sponsors offering you a "good position".
There can be no "deals" in an ethical company.
There must be a level playing field.

2. Timing in the Company / Timing in the Industry

Beware of "ground floor opportunities" and start-up
companies. 99% of companies don't last two years.

Most people don't make money in the first two years
while the company is dealing with problems.

Profit comes AFTER two years. Join then.

Do not join a company with a product with no profit
margin, e.g. long distance or vinyl records!

3. Remarkable Product

Be sure your product is unique - not invisible among others.
Read Seth Godin's "The Purple Cow".

Warning: If the product would not sell without a business
opportunity attached, it is ILLEGAL.

If you can't pay online with a credit card, and if you can only
pay by cash or money order, it is ILLEGAL.

If distributors collect the money while the company stays
at arm's length, it is ILLEGAL.

4. Compensation Plan That Pays Part-Timers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
95% of networkers are part-time. Make sure that people can
make a decent income working a few hours per week.

Beware of companies that advertise how many millionaires
they have created. Make sure it's not at the expense of
those "at the bottom". Everyone should be able to benefit.

Ask the question "How many people must I have in my
business to earn $10,000 per month?" There are companies
out there that require as many as 10,000 and as few as 400.
It's not unusual to see well-established companies that
require 3000 to 7000 people, and still attract new distributors.

If your upline won't or can't answer this basic question,
you should run.

If a company stresses "Recruit, Recruit, Recruit!", you should
"Run, Run, Run!"

The key to success is moving product from the company to
the end consumer.

If you are making only 5% to 8% commissions, you are
being extremely underpaid.

5. System for Success
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The company must have a duplicatable system for success.
People are not duplicatable - systems are. e.g. If you have
to rely on upline doing presentations, this is NOT duplicatable.

DO NOT MAKE A LIST OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

STOP BUYING LEADS.

These methods do not work anymore.

A New Chance for Frustrated Network Marketers

I've been involved in the network marketing industry for over 15 years and became very frustrated because I did not get the results that so many others seemed to get. I did what I was told to do. Another company ADSurfDaily is in the news. Attorney General Bill McCollum just filed a lawsuit against AdSurfDaily accusing the company and its owners of operating a huge pyramid scheme.

This is serious. People get hurt when they get involved in these scams and innocent people can go to jail. The people who start these are ruthless.

One very clear way to determine if an opportunity is a scam…it has NO product!

Pyramid Schemes - How to Avoid

There are two questions to ask yourself when you consider joining an MLM company:

#1. Would a logical thinking person spend this amount of money on this Product or Service if there were NOT a Pay Plan attached to it?

#2. Does the income stop when the recruiting stops?
