The Secret Income of Multi-Millionaires

There are two types of income in the world, but only one will give you the freedom to "own your life". The first type of income is linear income, trading your time for money. Most people work for a living. If they don't work they don't get paid. The school bus driver gets paid when he drives a bus. When his shift ends, he stops getting paid. A surgeon gets paid when she performs surgery, but when she goes home she doesn't get paid.

Now this just may open your eyes…even though the surgeon gets paid a lot more money than the bus driver, they are both in the same boat. They both are trading their time for money. They receive income when they work…that's linear income. When they stop working their income stops.

The second type of income is the secret income of multi-millionaires. It's a lot different than linear income. It's called "royalty income". It's also known as passive, recurring or residual income. "Royalty income" is the secret to creating true wealth.

Royalty income usually refers to regular payments you may receive if you have published a book or any creative work that remains in distribution. For example, Elvis Presley wrote numerous hit songs, and now his daughter Lisa Marie collects a "royalty check" from the record company when his songs are played on the radio or downloaded from iTunes. She doesn't have to write any hit songs because her father did the work right one time. That's "royalty income".

Now imagine if you had a million dollars in your savings account and you knew exactly how to invest your money without losing it all. You did the work right one time and today you'd collect a dividend check of $5,000 every month. Even after you quit your job you would still make money. That's "royalty income".

I don't know about you, but this gets me really excited. This is exactly the type of income that I want in my life. I could do what I want, when I want, and with whom I want. I could give more time and money to charities of my choice.

How Can You Create Team Staying Power?

Crafting Your Why

There are two types of people: those who know their purpose and live with passion, and those who don't know their purpose (their why) and continue to live in mediocrity.

What’s your Why? Everyone needs motivation to get up in the morning, and it has to be very strong. What motivates you? What makes you so happy that you get goose-bumps?

If you can’t close your eyes and clearly see your Why, then now is the time to get clarity.

Begin crafting your why by reflecting on the three major areas of your life…

Personal: What are your values, what is important to you, what do you cherish about your life, how do you want to be remembered?

Relationships: What type of friend, son, daughter, wife, husband, brother, sister, mother, father, aunt, uncle are you?

Freedom: What degree of freedom do you want and what will you do with your freedom?

Are You True to Yourself?

To be a leader you need followers, and to have followers you must have their confidence. Thus the highest quality for a leader is undeniably integrity. Integrity builds trust.

Leaders must live by a higher standard than their followers. They must take responsibility...accept the position of being accountable to their followers. Respectable leaders make choices that are best for others when another choice would benefit them. They are quick to recognize others for their efforts and contributions to the success of the team or organization. The measure of a leader's real character is what he would do if he would never be found out.

If you are sincere it's visible in everything you do. Likewise, if you are insincere, people will eventually see it. You can't cover it up. John C Maxwell said, "No one can fool all of the people all of the time. Each of us, eventually, is recognized for exactly what we are – not what we appear to be."

Ann Landers said, "People of integrity expect to be believed. They also know time will prove them right and are willing to wait." Integrity is the result of self-discipline, respectability, and the decision to act honesty in all situations.

To keep your integrity intact, use the following poem ("Am I True to Myself?" by Edgar Guest) as a "mirror test" to evaluate how you are doing.

"I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know,

I want to be able, as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand, with the setting sun,
And I hate myself for things I have done.

Network Marketers Addicted to a Smorgasbord of Opportunities

Are you one of the many network marketers who are addicted to a “smorgasbord” of MLM opportunities? Have you fallen into the trap of believing that you need multiple streams of income to only end up with multiple streams of outgo?

What is a Professional Network Marketer?

First let me explain to you what professional network marketers are not. They are not the "heavy hitters" who make illegal income claims, the "scam artists" who are only interested in making a fast buck. They do not tell you that network marketing is a sales business or a numbers game. "Heavy hitters" teach people to recruit, recruit and recruit. Recruiters don't know the "WHY" of the people they sponsor. They get them in the business and you never hear from them again.

Professional network marketers doe not make illegal income claims to entice people to join them in their business. They take a genuine interest in the people they sponsor. They get to know what their dreams are; what motivates them; what is important to them. The truth is that network marketing is a teaching and mentoring business. It is about people, their goals and dreams. Professional network marketers know they need to become a mentor with a "servant's heart" to have long-term success.

Professional network marketers are educated on how to evaluate a network marketing company. The first thing that they do is read the company's contract. They look for key phrases such as "the company reserves the right to terminate this agreement, and all associated agreements (including, without limitation, the marketing incentive programs), upon 30 days written notice, with or without cause." If there is anything in the contract about termination without cause they go no further.

The second thing they look at is the compensation plan; can the average person make money? They look to see how many people, distributors, associates, (whatever the company calls them) do they need to generate the volume that will bring them their desired monthly income.

Professional network marketers remove themselves from the emotion of the deal, the product, services, or whatever the opportunity that is being offered. They look at it objectively…how are they going to build the business; who's their customer; are people buying it because of the business opportunity; do they receive something of value when they join the company?

How to Escape "The Chasing Trap" in Your Network Marketing Business

Most network marketers have fallen into "the chasing trap" in their network marketing business. What exactly is "the chasing trap"? It is when you want more for your prospects than they want for themselves. It is when you keep thinking or saying to yourself, "If I could only make them understand what I have to offer, then they will own their life". You chase them around trying to convince them that your opportunity and/or products are the "greatest thing since sliced bread".

Getting caught up in "the chasing trap" only leads to frustration and weariness. It will never help you achieve your goals. If you are in this trap you are not alone for most network marketers have experienced this. We all have wondered why they just don't get it or how can we make them understand. Most of us have spent hours emailing, calling and chasing them down to no avail.

To escape "the chasing trap" your first commitment MUST be to your people, NOT to your personal profit. Look at network marketing as a relationship game, not a sales business. Get to know your prospect and what they want. When you put other people's desires before your personal gain then trust and loyalty develop. Ask yourself "WHY" should your prospects choose you over all the other home business options. Your job is to make an impression that they will never forget that puts you head and shoulders above your competition.

Spend your time with those who want your help: the ones who raise their hand. Stop chasing those who really don't want to help themselves and you will soon have a team of self-sufficient, highly motivated, successful people in your network marketing business.

Newsflash: Could This Happen to You?

This newsflash just came to my attention and I am shocked! This is an actual letter that was sent from the desk of the CEO of a network marketing company to its distributors on May 1, 2009. The name of the company is changed to protect the innocent. This is a must read for network marketers because it could happen to you.

Beginning of Newsflash

I would like to take a few moments to express my sincere and deep gratitude for your loyalty and support over the years. Company XYZ has always held and will continue to hold a large part of my heart.

Due to economic issues at this time, it has come to my realization that we are no longer able to offer the network marketing compensation model for our distributor family. It is with deep regret that I am announcing effective May 1, 2009 that we will suspend the enrollment of new distributors into our current compensation models and only pay commissions for any Fast Start Retail orders and/or distributor re-orders according to the existing compensation models of each respective company. All commissions for April 2009 (including Retail Fast Starts) will be processed by June 15, 2009 to allow for our generous return policy to process. Commissions for May 2009 will be processed by July 15, 2009 at our current compensation model of each existing company.

I realize that we need to take the lessons of this sour economy to heart and offer a true opportunity to any individual to earn a few hundred extra dollars or more per month on the simple philosophy of offering great products to individual consumers. Therefore, prior to June 1st 2009, I look forward to offering an opportunity to our current distributor base to continue marketing Company XYZ products through an affiliate/direct sales model that will pay one level of commission. This program is similar to the already successful distribution program through the Company XYZ retail compensation, but will allow us greater flexibility in meeting the financial decision needs of our consumer while allowing the continued financial gain of our distributor base.

I realize many of you may have questions and concerns, but please keep in mind that my goal is to keep you fully aware of any and all issues moving forward. I personally look forward to making our affiliate/direct sales program available to you on June 1st that allows any individual to earn income from the sale of products alone. Stay tuned for more information regarding that program.

"One Song Can Change Your Life"

"One song can change your life" just as it did for Shaheen Jafargholi, 12 year old singer from Whales. This is a great life lesson on telling the "truth". We all have experienced the disappointment that young Shaheen did when Simon stopped him from singing and told him that he got it all wrong. Shaheen was given another chance to sing the "right song that changed his life".

It takes a coach and mentor to tell you the truth when you don't want to hear it, just as Shaheen didn't want to hear that the song he chose to sing was not the right song for him. When Simon (the mentor) stopped him and told him the truth, Shaheen immediately made the decision to perform another song that "changed his life".

Just as the "right song" changed a young boy's life, so can the "right five pillars company" and the "right system" change your network marketing business. You can't build your business by yourself. You need the right system and team to help you every step of the way.

Network Marketing Booms When Recession Hits the Economy

According to Rod Cook there is good news for the network marketing industry in times of recession. He says, "When recession hits, those with any intelligence are going to scramble to find alternative sources of income. In their frantic searches, they are going to find that the best of all alternatives is Network Marketing."

I came across this article by Rod Cook and thought it would encourage all of us who are in network marketing as well as those who are looking for career alternatives.

Network Marketers Attitude Dictates Your Performance

Attitude is an inward feeling expressed through physical posture, either conscious or unconscious, especially while interacting with others. Your facial expression and body language often reveal how you feel inwardly.

Attitudes are contagious. Have you noticed what happens to you when you are in the presence of someone whose expression reveals a negative attitude? Does it create a negative feeling in you? It does for me. On the other hand when someone greets you with a smile do you experience a lift in your emotions? I know I do.

What is happening on the inside of you affects what is happening around you. A hardened attitude will cause you to have a closed mind and dim future: whereas a loving, serving attitude is conducive to growth and a hopeful future.

Can you see how your attitude dictates your performance in your network marketing business? Think about it...is your attitude working for you or against you?

I like the way John C. Maxwell sums up "what is an attitude?" in his book The Winning Attitude...

"It is the 'advance man' of our true selves.
Its roots are inward but its fruit is outward.
It is our best friend or our worst enemy.
It is more honest and more consistent than our words.
It is an outward look based on past experiences.
It is a thing which draws people to us or repels them.
It is never content until it is expressed.
It is the librarian of our past.
It is the speaker of your present.
It is the prophet of our future."
