How to Make Successful New Year’s Resolutions by John Di Lemme

As 2011 rolls around and we prepare for a new
year, the habit of making New Year’s resolutions
comes to the forefront. This past week, I asked
my students to list what they believe to be
the top three New Year resolutions for society
in general.

To no surprise, the top three were lose weight, make
more money and work out more. While the intentions
behind the resolutions are good, the likelihood that
the Resolutions will be achieved is not so great.

According to general statistics, approximately 45%
of adult Americans make New Year resolutions every
year. Unfortunately, about 97% of the resolutions
are never completely fulfilled...

Why? Most resolutions are unrealistic and there is
no action behind the resolution. Someone can say
that they want to make more money, but if they
continue to go on shopping sprees, then it
is not going to happen. Similarly, a person can say
that they are going to lose weight, but if they don’t
exercise and continue to eat junk, then no change
will occur...

The base word of Resolution is resolute, which
means firmly resolved. So basically when you set
New Year’s resolutions, you are saying that losing
weight, making more money, etc. will be firmly resolved
within the next twelve months. You aren’t saying how
it will be fully resolved or what commitment you will
make to fully resolve the issue. It’s like a building
with no Foundation.

It will eventually crumble, because there’s nothing
holding it up. There’s no commitment or action
behind the resolution. Furthermore, most of the
things that you are saying will be fully resolved
took you longer than twelve months to create so why
limit yourself to fully resolving those things in a
twelve month window.

Instead of making resolutions that you will likely
not achieve, set goals with a detailed list of action
steps that will assist you in Successfully Achieving
those goals.

Here are some examples for you...

Goal: Lose weight and exercise more
Action Steps:  Join gym, exercise 3x per
week, eat more fruits/veggies, throw out all
junk food in the house, drink a gallon of water
each day

Goal: Spend more time with family
Action Steps: Make a date with your family
every week and do something special.
(special does not mean costly)

Goal: Increase Personal Development time
Action Steps: Schedule at least fifteen minutes
per day for reading an inspirational book,
listening to motivational CD/DVDs, etc.
Increase the amount of time after committing
to the fifteen minutes per day and making it one
of your daily habits...

Now, doesn’t that make more sense than simply
making a New Year’s resolution and never
achieving it? Someone once said, “A New Year's
resolution is something that goes in one year
and out the other"

Your goals and dreams are worth more than that,
right? Stop treating them like a trend that in
one day and out the next. Make a commitment to
yourself and take the daily action needed to
achieve your goals and dreams.

Now, that’s a real reason to put on the party
hats, blow the whistles and scream Happy New Year!

Never Promote an MLM Company

Everybody knows that it is important to understand what works and what doesn't work before you invest a lot of money in a MLM company. Dave Cones, a successful network marketer, has a lot to say about this.

Social Networking - What is Your Purpose? By Irma White

Have you ever joined a social networking site and immediately noticed no one desired what you offered? After all, you thought a social networking site was a great place to find people - right? Right. It is a way to find people and a place to socialize. Thus, building quality relationships is crucial to your success.

Here a a few tips that will enhance your social networking experience.

Things to do when customizing your profile:

1. When building your profile, post your picture. It makes your site more personable and inviting. People relate to you better and people do business with those they know, like & trust.

2. Although you want to share a little about yourself, keep your profile simple (uncluttered) and short. If it's too cluttered or too long most people won't stay long enough to find the important info.

3. When customizing you profile, offer some type of free service that will benefit them. In other words, your site should not be just about advertising your product. If people don't know you, it's not likely they will buy from you just because they visited your profile. In what ever way you can, be of assistance to your visitor. Provide them something of quality that they will find use.

Things to do to build relationships:

1. If you're new to a community or network, people can easily find you. However, after you've been a member a while, you need to do something to get traffic. You do this by making comments on other people's sites, whether it's someone new to the community or new to a network you've joined. Find a common interest and add your comment or sign their guestbook based upon that. Don't post a generic comment, show genuine interest.

This will do two things:
1) bring them to your profile and
2) bring their visitors to your profile. This is cross-trafficking.

In addition, if you've made friends and know their birthdays, be sure to extend birthday greetings. They would surely appreciate you for that.

But remember, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, leave an advertisment on someone's guestbook. That is netiquette 101. Your sig file is not the place for that. Use your sig file in emails or on blog/forum posts. You can, however, link to someone or something of interest or humorous (just remember to be professional).

People hate spam. Your objective at the social sites is to build relationships. If you join social networking sites for advertisement purposes only, you have little chance of succeeding. But, when you build those quality relationships, your business will grow.

You will notice social networking is "work" but well worth it. You will have to be an active user of the site. To be active, join a few networks and participate in a few of the forums. Just be careful not to let it consume all your time. Devote a couple hours per day to this activity and you will be well on your way to building your empire.

These are the same techniques I am successfully using to build my business. They can do the same for you.

Developing Your Critical Thinking Skills

I received another chain e-mail today, you know the kind...the ones that distort the facts for their own political or racial agenda and tell you to pass it on. I use to forward these on to my family and friends and have been embarrassed when I learned the information was false. Now, since I have learned to be a critical thinker I check out the facts which I often find to be misrepresented.

Next time you get an email that says you should "pass on to everyone you know" no matter how good the cause sounds check it out. Think FIRST, before you hit Send. Trust me: that's not too difficult.

Developing sound critical thinking skills will not only save you from embarrassment in passing on misleading e-mails but it is also crucial for your success as a professional network marketer. Critical thinking involves skillful judgment as to truth and merit and is a life-time endeavor.

Most network marketers who develop sound critical thinking skills save themselves years of failure and frustration. But some never take the time to develop these skills and continue to embarrass themselves by promoting MLM businesses that will never bring profit to their independent distributors.

Add Significance

Most network marketers have the tendency to come off as pushy sales people, and offer people a dream without first building a relationship. They don't take the time to find out what their prospect's dream is before they start to promote their product or service.

As a professional network marketer your first commitment MUST be to your people, NOT to your personal gain. As a leader in the MLM industry it is essential for you to do everything you can to make your prospects and partners feel so valued and cared for that they will be loyal to you forever. Give them the personal attention and respect that they deserve.

You add significance to peoples lives by simply encouraging them to identify and act on their dreams...

The idea is that if you had anything you wanted – unlimited time, unlimited money, unlimited information, unlimited staff (all the resources you could ask for) – what would you do? Your answer to that question is your dream.

Everyone has heard the story of Isaac Newton’s discovery of the law of gravity after observing the fall of an apple. What few people know is that Edmund Halley, the astronomer who discovered Halley’s Comet, is almost single-handedly responsible for Newton’s theories becoming known. Halley challenged Newton to think through his original notions. He corrected Newton’s mathematical errors and prepared geometrical figures to support his work. Not only did he encourage Newton to write his great work, Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, but he edited the work, supervised its publication, and financed its printing, even though Newton could easily afford the printing costs.

Are Buying Leads a Scam?

At Mentoring For Free we teach you how to think not what to think and the education process takes time and effort. Our team leaders have put together many trainings that explain why buying leads is a scam! Please do not take this information lightly. You could be putting your business and reputation in serious jeopardy by not knowing the truth.

It is against the law to send your product or service offer to an OPT-IN lead that you bought or were gifted as a bonus to join some company.

Do you understand this?

Maybe this will make it clearer to you…You cannot buy an OPT-IN lead of ANY kind from ANYONE and then turn around and send Your Offer to that lead because that person Never OPTED-IN for Your Offer; they Opted-IN for the Lead seller's offer. If You send Your Offer to them You are guilty of SPAM and You will be prosecuted under the Law that YOU broke."

My purpose here is to educate you so you don't fall for the lies of these sleazy lead brokers. Just think about it…why would a lead broker sell you a lead if they were any good? They wouldn't! They would use the lead to build their own home-based business to create a walk away monthly income.

Are You Thinking Like Your Prospect?

Are you thinking like your prospect when it comes to what is important to them about your network marketing business? Do you think that your prospect wants to know all about your company; its history, its founders, how long they have been in business, etc?

Of course this may be important to you, but it is not the first thing that is important to your prospect. Think back to when you got started in your network marketing business…why did you get involved? Was it because you trusted the person who told you about it? Did you get involved because you had a relationship with this person? Most likely the answer is "yes".

To be a successful network marketer it is necessary to know what is important to your prospect. "Big Al" Tom Schrieter has traveled all over the world promoting his MLM business and he has discovered what is important to people in their decision to join a MLM company. And the truth is, the most important thing is "who gave the presentation". This is a people business and your prospect wants to know that you care about him or her. When you care about them they can relate to you. They need to like you and be able to work with you.

People want to know that you will work together with them to help them achieve success. It is critical that you offer the proper training which will raise their belief and confidence level in themselves as well as the MLM industry before you send them out on their own. Think about it…when you work for a conventional company you are trained in the job position before you are turned loose. And even then, you'll have someone you can turn to when you need help. Then, why would it be any different in the MLM industry?

So, get to know your prospect; get them plugged into the appropriate training program; introduce them to your team members. Remember it is not about you and what you want. It is all about your prospect and what he or she wants. So start to think like your prospect!

Words Are A Creative Force

We often hear how our thoughts are powerful and they are, but the words that we speak are even more powerful. Words are a "creative force". God spoke His creation into existence when He said: "Light be, and light was". You'll see this all through the book of Genesis…"God said" and it was. God has given us the power to change our circumstances through the words that we speak.

Your words have a greater power than your thoughts to change your circumstances. For example: My sister, a Certified Nurse's Aid, told me about a recent experience with one of her patients. Susie (not her real name) hurt all over and when my sister went to move her she became abusive. Instead of reacting back with harshness and insensitivity, my sister chose to speak kind and compassionate words. Immediately Susie's countenance changed and she told my sister that she was sorry. Susie became more cooperative and accepting of my sister's help. The words that my sister spoke created an environment of love and acceptance rather than one of anger and hostility.

You may be wondering what this has to do with your network marketing business. Well, think about it…if your words have the power to change your circumstances (just as they did for my sister), then they have the power to frame your business world. To be successful in all areas of your life it is important to grasp the truth of the power of your words. When you say words of doubt, worry, fear, etc. you set yourself up for failure. When you speak words of confidence, trust, belief in yourself, you set up a structure for success.

There are three simple action steps that you can take to start to create success in your MLM business.

Step 1.) Write down 4 or 5 key words and/or phrases that you use regularly to describe yourself, others and certain situations in your life or business. Do you use words such as "I can't", "maybe", "I don't", "if only"? Can you see how your words limit the growth of your business?

Step 2.) Choose words and phrases such as "I am", I will", "I am confident", "I do believe"…words that are uplifting and bring increase and success to your business.

Step 3.) Become a part of a mastermind group where you will be lifted up and encouraged to keep focused on using uplifting words that will bring success to your network marketing business.

Remember, God has given you the power to change your circumstances through His "creative force", words. Just as my sister was able to change the mood of her patient by her words, you can also use the "creative force" of your words to transform your network marketing business into success.

Most network marketers who align themselves with a mastermind group discover the power of genuine team support. But some just keep on struggling trying to make it on their own.

Network Marketer - Have You Fallen Into "the Chasing Trap"?

Most network marketers have fallen into "the chasing trap" in their network marketing business. What exactly is "the chasing trap"? It is when you want more for your prospects than they want for themselves. It is when you keep thinking or saying to yourself, "If I could only make them understand what I have to offer, then they will own their life". You chase them around trying to convince them that your opportunity and/or products are the "greatest thing since sliced bread".

Getting caught up in "the chasing trap" only leads to frustration and weariness. It will never help you achieve your goals. If you are in this trap you are not alone for most network marketers have experienced this. We all have wondered why they just don't get it or how can we make them understand. Most of us have spent hours emailing, calling and chasing them down to no avail.

To escape "the chasing trap" your first commitment MUST be to your people, NOT to your personal profit. Look at network marketing as a relationship game, not a sales business. Get to know your prospect and what they want. When you put other people's desires before your personal gain then trust and loyalty develop. Ask yourself "WHY" should your prospects choose you over all the other home business options. Your job is to make an impression that they will never forget that puts you head and shoulders above your competition.

Spend your time with those who want your help: the ones who raise their hand. Stop chasing those who really don't want to help themselves and you will soon have a team of self-sufficient, highly motivated, successful people in your network marketing business.

Network Marketers: Do You Know What Your Prospect Wants?

Do you know what your prospect wants or are you like some network marketers…only interested in getting what you want?

The only thing that matters is what your prospect thinks, wants, wishes for, desires and needs. It is all about your prospect, not you. So start your relationship by listening, then you will know how to help them get what they want.

Your prospect wants a simple, proven, non-threatening marketing system that works: a system that generates high quality leads: provides a follow-up plan, and a first-rate sponsoring and training program. They want to know that there is a team of people who really cares and believes in them.

Your prospect expects you to be able to answer their questions or to guide them to the right source (hotlines, web pages, brochures, etc.) to answer any questions that you can't answer. It's not as important to know all the answers, as it is to know where to get the answers…this is where your team comes in.

Your key weapon in the battlefield of network marketing is your team. Most people want to belong to a team that manifests unselfishness in its purest form: genuine consideration for others.
